There’s a book out called, “Quiet” all about how it’s okay to be introverted and that being extroverted is over-rated.  Seriously, if you consider yourself an introvert, and that’s not at all uncommon in radio people, get this book.  It’s really awesome.

A local resident, Robert Gallowitz, approached Q108 about proposing to his girlfriend on stage at Rivers and Spires. We loved the idea, but we had to come up with a way to get his girlfriend, Chelsea, on stage without suspecting what was going on. We decided to create a fake game on stage and told Robert to be ready to volunteer when the time was right.

The video begins shortly after both Robert and Chelsea were selected to join Q108′s Ryan on stage. Watch as Ryan asks some funny questions as part of the game, then stay for the end to see the surprise proposal. It’s truly a touching and magical moment… you may even shed a tear. Enjoy!

Here’s how the competition works. Our panel of judges will select the best talent from a series of 3 audition stops. The top 5 selected at each audition stop will compete in the finals which will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Little River Days in Hopkinsville, KY. The finalists will perform for our panel of judges and one finalist or group will be declared the winner and win $1,000. Only one $1,000 prize will be awarded. If the winning performance is a group, the $1000 will be awarded to the group and not to each member.

Q108 today was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters’ Crystal Radio Award. Q108 is a first time recipient of the award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. “We are honored to receive our first Crystal award… Helping our community, comes from the heart, and this is a wonderful pat on the back for the Q108 staff and all their hard work”, says Brand Manager Scott Chase. “We also need to say thank you to all of our listeners for contributing to our success; we couldn’t do it without them!”

WCVQ will conduct this contest concurrently and simultaneously with radio stations affiliated with WCVQ, and in various states.  Listeners of WCVQ will, therefore, be competing with listeners of other radio stations to win the same prize. A station will be chosen at random from all the participating radio stations. Then a text received by that station will be chosen at random.  The cell phone number from the chosen text will be called and the reaction recorded for broadcast.  If we are unable to speak with the contestant who sent the text within 5 minutes from the time we dial that contestant’s cell number, then the $1,000 prize will be forfeited and another random text will be chosen with the same procedure until a winner is determined.
