In the years since man created the first automobile, the Pope has traveled in a variety of different vehicles.

From buses to pickup trucks, the Popemobile has evolved from many forms to become the most recognized version of the Pope’s ride: the white Mercedes-Benz SUV mated with a tall, glass fishbowl.

The new Pope will be treated with a brand new Popemobile (see above) that Benedict barely had time to break in. Delivered in December, it’s essentially an updated version of its previous SUV-based Popemobile.
