I like massages. I mean, who doesn't? It's hard to work in time as a busy working mom to get some massage action, so here's a video I found of a way you can get a massage at home whenever you want, granted you own a goat. I can be an emotional person. Okay, that's an understatement. I cry easily, and wear my heart on my sleeve, always. So when I came across the story of Laci Buchanan and her son, and the video tribute she made, I was moved, deeply.
Laci's son Christian was born without eyes and with a Tessier's Cleft Palate. he is one of only 50 people in the WORLD with this condition. Despite the obstacles, Christian's Mom has found a way to overcome and actually inspire others. Check out the video below, but before you do, if you're ANYTHING like me, grab the tissues. And after, remember the golden rule...."Do unto others...." especially when dealing with others who are different, or as I like to see it, special.
I admit it....I go to the tanning bed. I haven't in years but this year, after losing some weight, I decided I want a healthy glow. Yes, I know all about the risks, but as a consenting adult, I've made the decision to take those risks in exchange for a bronzed body. I do not however, take my children to the tanning bed, nor do I allow my 17 year old tan, not that she needs to, the kid was born with the most beautiful skin you've ever seen.
One New Jersey mom who takes her tanning very serious is in trouble after reportedly taking her 5 year old daughter in the room with her while she tanned. The mother claims that she was in the booth, not her daughter. She further claims the little girl got sunburned playing outside and that this is all a big misunderstanding.

I love food. All types of food. I especially love chocolate, and good Southern down home cooking, and well, I like food! Personally, I could not become a vegan, sorry, but I love a good steak, or even scrambled eggs. But for those who decide a vegan way of life is for them, by all means go with it. I have no judgement of that.
One author and mom however is drawing a lot of criticism for her book about to be released, "Vegan is Love". On the cover and throughout the book you see beautifully illustrated pictures and bright colors. Including illustrations showing animals being killed in all manners of ways. Remember this is a children's book, intended to promote a vegan life. I'm not sure as a mom that I would want my young children to be exposed to such disturbing images, or be scared by what they see. Having dealt with a picky eater in my time I don't want to make my kids afraid of food in general.

I have several single girlfriends, and invariably hear them bemoaning yet another failed relationship because they picked the wrong man. In fact they didn't pick a man at all, they chose jerk. While jerks might seem easy to spot, if you're infatuated with one it can be hard to understand their behaviors. My advice would be RUN, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, but, if you find yourself determined to make something reasonable out of a jerk, here's a link to an article that may give you some insight.

Many years ago when I lived in Northern Alabama, I was an actor in the group that puts on the Miracle Worker every year at Helen Keller's birthplace, Ivy Green. I have such fond memories of those days, having the chance before every show to sit beneath a willow tree, in sight of the infamous well where Helen spoke her first words. An infamous bridal shop in Minnesota has closed it's doors, and their decision to destroy their inventory of wedding dresses has left some cold.
Priscilla of Boston staff spray painted red X's on countless dresses before depositing them in a dumpster, leaving some wondering why the company didn't donate the gowns to those in need. Check out the story, and tell me where you stand, should the dresses have been donated? I for one think there's some poor pageant mom out there who desperately needed the fancy sequined hair bows that also made it into the trash. What say you?
