NASHVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – For the second year in a row, ClarksvilleNow.com has won top digital honors at the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters Excellence in Broadcasting Awards.

In Best Use of Digital or Social Media Platforms in its division, first place went to ClarksvilleNow.com. Clarksville Now was created by Katie Gambill, president and general manager of 5 Star Media Group, in 2010. It has since grown to become the dominant digital news operation in Clarksville, with over 2 million page views per month. Clarksville Now also provides broadcast news to the nine 5 Star stations, including Q108 and Beaver 100.3 FM.

The site has recently gained national attention. 5 Star’s parent company, Saga Communications, has promoted Gambill to the newly created position of Director of Online News Brands in order to lead a national rollout of local news websites based on the success of Clarksville Now.

Also, Clarksville’s Conversation, an original Clarksville Now podcast, won Best Local Talk Show. The program, which airs Sundays on WNZE, is hosted by Gambill and Charlie Koon, and is produced by 5 Star Operations Manager Ryan Ploeckelman.

The statewide awards banquet was held Aug. 21 at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
