CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The George Plaster Show is coming to ESPN Clarksville this week, and Plaster said to expect his team to talk sports, take calls and do sports radio the way it ought to be done.

Plaster told Clarksville Now he’s excited for the opportunity to be here and tap into a new market of sports fans. “I’m very excited about being in Clarksville. For me, this is about adding listeners – listeners who knew me from years ago,” he said. “I think we’re going to do really well here, it’s a market that has a lot of sports fans, and we just simply want to tap into it.”

ESPN Clarksville – 104.1 FM and 540 AM – delivers sports talk favorites plus local sports previews and play-by-play coverage. Now, the programming will include The George Plaster Show from 3-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Plaster said the strength of their show is good content, and he’s joined by co-hosts Kelly Holcomb and Billy Derrick, along with guests such as Tony Basilio, David Cutcliffe and Watson Brown, among others.

“It’s very similar to what I’ve always done in Nashville sports talk radio,” he said. “Having grown up in Nashville, I’ve been in Clarksville a lot. Dave Loos was a very close friend of mine, I’ve been a frequent visitor up here, in particular when he was the basketball coach (at Austin Peay).

“Clarksville’s no different, there’s a lot of sports fans, and we’re going to talk about the things that they want to talk about. We’re going to mix Austin Peay into it, they’re having a great start to their football season. What Jeff Faris has done is really amazing.”

Professional background

Plaster said he has been a Nashville resident through most of his life, and he stumbled into the talk show market in the late 1980s.

“So, I’ve been around all of this for a long time, and I have a lot of play-by-play experience,” Plaster said. That included time with Memphis State (now the University of Memphis), Vanderbilt University and Georgia Tech University.
