A View of the Galaxy from Clarksville

The past few weeks have been incredible for star gazing as the nights get cooler and drier. Here is an opportunity to see the world (or out of it) in a whole new amazing light.

APSU is once again offering free observatory nights where you can look at the galaxy through a telescope similar to the Hubble! The next two events presented by APSU’s Department of Physics, Engineering, and Astronomy will be held this Saturday, September 23rd as well as October 21st. Doors open both nights at 7p and the event begins at 7:30p.

The telescope at Austin Peay is a 20-inch Ritchey-Chretien telescope. This has the same optical design as NASA’s Hubble Telescope. Professors and students will also be there to help guide you and answer any questions you have. This weekend the skies and weather should be perfect however if there is inclement weather or excessive cloud cover, professors will lead indoor educational activities.

Although the event is free you still need to register for the event by clicking HERE.
