Can You Really EAT Your Christmas Tree?

Not that you would walk up to your tree and take a bite once you remove the decorations, but yes, you can in fact EAT part of your Christmas tree!

A few years a cookbook called How to Eat Your Christmas Treewas released in the UK. The recipes featured needles used instead of rosemary or bay leaves. When you think about it, fresh rosemary herbs kind of resemble what you find on your tree! What’s even better is that pine needles are filled with vitamin C! You can use them to flavor gin or vinegar. I’ve also heard of some who steep pine needles in hot water to create a healthy tea!

The wood of your tree can be burned to make pine ash. This can then be used as a flavoring, fertilizer in gardens, and also for cleaning the kitchen! Think Pine-Sol! 🙂

So before you recycle that tree – why not create some tasty dishes and brew some nutritious tea?
