Give Your Spouse Your Phone Code!

We talked about this on the show earlier today. A recent survey showed that 82% of us have snooped through someone’s phone. I can admit it, I’ve done it. I’m not proud of it, but being an insecure idiot had me looking through a former girlfriend’s phone hoping I wouldn’t see her flirting with a coworker. Spoiler alert, she was, but not in her text messages. So while my suspicions were correct, it still wasn’t the right thing to do.

So here is my advice to those of you who are looking for a real deal relationship. Give your partner the password to your phone. Nothing establishes trust, especially among women, then giving the sacred code to the lifeline to your social life.

I remember my wife and I were on a road trip to San Antonio and a friend had sent me a text I wanted to respond to. Now, since I was driving, I can’t be texting. I may U-Turn a lot, but I don’t text and drive, way too dangerous. So I handed my phone to my then girlfriend, now wife, gave her the password and asked her to send a text back to my buddy.

I remember how shocked she was that I would just hand over such classified information with zero interrogation or torture techniques. But I did it because I had nothing to hide and completely trust my partner. So if you’re really, truly looking for that ONE person to spend your life with, don’t hide your phone code. Be upfront with the info and show then you can be trusted!
