My Worst Nightmare Came True…

I don’t like being late. I absolutely loathe it. When I’m late, I feel like others are waiting on me and I have let them down.

So imagine how I felt this morning when I was woken up not by my alarm clock, but my boss’s ringtone and him telling me I’m and hour and 20 minutes late for my shift. My eyes shot open and my heart sank to the bottom of my stomach. I lept out of bed, threw on some jeans, a shirt, brushed my teeth, and literally swished mouthwash on my way to my car. Then my other nightmare hit me.

Getting stuck in traffic on Madison street. You all weren’t kidding when you warned me about traffic in this city. The whole time I’m sitting there in traffic, listening to the station knowing I’m not there, the anger sharks started swimming around in my brain, followed by the feeling of letting the team down.

And the kicker? It was all MY FAULT. I set my alarm for PM, not AM. I have no one to blame but me. LUCKILY I work with some very awesome people who forgave me and we’ve been laughing about it.

This is why I can’t wait for the day Whataburger is up and running. This way if I’m late again, I’ll stop by Whataburger, order about 30 taquitos, and then I’ll go from being the dumb dumb who was late, to the guy who bought breakfast for the entire office.
