The SCARIEST MOVIE EVER According to Science Is…

How does one judge the SCARIEST movie ever? Isn’t it subjective?

Well, one idea is to bring science into the equation and hook up the audience to heart monitors! The study called, “The Science of Scare” had the 250-member panel wear heart monitors to track both the speed and variance of their heart rates as they watched horror movies.

The higher the heart rate, the more excitement and fear. Knowing that the average heartbeat per minute is 64 beats per minute, you can imagine that if someone’s heart rate increases to 133 beats per minute (which happened during this study), that person is most likely terrified. That heart rate spike happened during the movie “Insidious” with most guessing that it was the demon in the corner scene.

Here are the top 10 scariest movies of all time according to science.

  1. “Sinister”
  2. “Host”
  3. “Skinamarink”
  4. “Insidious”
  5. “The Conjuring”
  6. “Hereditary”
  7. “Smile”
  8. “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”
  9. “Hell House LLC”
  10. “Talk to Me”

Where is “The Exorcist”? or “The Shining”?

And which is scarier? Watching “Sinister”?

Or driving Wilma Rudolph Blvd. during the afternoon rush?
