Which CLASSIC Song was Inspired by Tina Turner?

As the world mourns the loss of one of music’s largest legends so many interesting stories are surfacing about Tina Turner, the “Queen of Rock and Roll”, and how much she influenced our world of music.

How many times did you sing along to Waylon and Willie’s “Good Hearted Woman”?

Did you know that if it wasn’t for Tina Turner that song may have never come to be?

The year was 1969. Waylon Jennings saw an advertisement while at a hotel in Fort Worth, Texas describing Tina as a “good-hearted woman loving two-timing men” as a reference to Ike Turner. Jennings then went to Willie Nelson, who was playing his hand in a poker game. Waylon joined in on the game and they both began expanding on the good-hearted woman phrase with Willie’s wife Connie writing down the lyrics as they were coming to them.

In 1972 Waylon released the title track to his new album “Good Hearted Woman” and the song went to number 3 on the Billboard Country charts. Then in ’75, he had Willie come into the studio and they recorded a version together and even added a crowd noise to give the song a live feel for the album “Wanted: The Outlaws!” That album became country music’s first to go platinum.

Thank you Tina.
